Third phase of Haritha Haram launched

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao kick started the third phase of massive afforestation programme called Haritha Haram near lower Maneru Dam in Karimnagar of Telangana on Wednesday.

Giving a call to the residents of Karimnagar town to adopt a sapling each and turn the town green within two years, the chief minister said that each one must treat plants as their own offspring and take care of them. The chief minister also began the distribution of 10000 fruit bearing saplings for plantation in residential areas. Karimnagar police have taken oath that they will plant and take care of 25,000 saplings. Haritha Haram third phase was launched simultaneously in all the 31 districts of the state including Hyderabad.

Haritha Haram the brain child of KCR envisages plantation of 230 crore saplings within four years of time. In all 40 crore saplings are ready for distribution through 2925 nurseries located all across the state. A green brigade with 2.5 lakh students is also planned to save the saplings after plantation.
