The BBMP will file a criminal case against a company for failing to set up a waste-to-energy unit at Mandur.

Srinivasa Gayathri Resource Recovery Ltd had been managing the waste unit at Mandur for more than a decade and turned the place into the biggest landfill site. The landfill was closed down following protests from local residents.  People living in villages around Mandur had asked the BBMP to remove the waste.

The BBMP assigned the company the task of setting up the plant and provided land for the purpose. But the company failed to do so even after many years. The BBMP decision follows a legislature committee’s recommendation for an ACB probe against the company.
