40 cases of dengue confirmed in Tarikere taluk, says medical officer

 Up to 40 dengue cases have been confirmed in the taluk and a 10-year-old girl in Hosalli village has succumbed to death due to the disease, said Taluk Medical Officer Dr Prasanna Sannakki.

He was providing the information during the Taluk Panchayat all members’ meeting at the Panchayat Hall on Thursday.

Dengue cases have been identified in Tarikere town, MC Halli, Veerapura Hosuru, Javuru Hosalli, Heggadehalli, Kenchapura and Medihalli. The victims are being treated at the Meggan Hospital, Shivamogga, and at other government hospitals.

Nominated members of the Panchayat complained regarding the serious drinking water problems in Doranalu, Cheeranahalli, Karehalli and other villages. The equipment purchased for the drinking water unit at Chikkanavangala are getting spoiled. As the bills are yet to be cleared, the tankers are not providing water.

Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer S L Gangadharamurthy said that Rs 31 lakh towards water supply is yet to be released by the government. “Out of the total dues, Rs 25 lakh has been paid. An action plan for the pipeline project at a cost of Rs two crore and 16 lakh, in the taluk, has been prepared,” he added.

Nominated member Devaraju said that teachers in some schools in the taluk are wasting time in mobile phone chatting during the classes. He, meanwhile, urged the implementation of the mid-day meal scheme at Aksharamane School in Santhaveri village.

Block Education Officer G V Hariprasad assured of initiating action against the teachers who use mobile phones during the classes. He added that 1,000 students have gotten admitted to government schools, after introducing LKG and UKG classes in 62 schools.

Agricultural Officer Chitrasena said that, out of 175 days, there has been less then average rains during 142 days in the taluk although 13% of seed transplantation has been done in 5,460 acres of land.

Taluk Panchayat member Hala Naika said that the CCTV cameras installed in the Taluk Panchayat office are mounted in such a way that the camera is directed towards the roof. “This has been done deliberately,” he added.

Taluk Panchayat president Padmavathi directed the officials to take immediate action towards the same and warned the officials of stringent action if such an act is repeated.

Taluk Panchayat vice president Shivamma, Standing Committee president Gangadharappa and officials from various departments took over.
