After a month of rigorous fasting, Muslims in the city celebrated the end of Ramzan with prayers, gifts and sumptuous feasts.

Thousands of people, dressed in white clothes, gathered at the Mysuru Road Eidgah Masjid, Chamrajpet Eidgah Masjid and Jamia Masjid in Halasuru. At the Mysuru Road Eidgah Masjid, the crowd spilled onto the roads and latecomers struggled to find a spot to sit.

Former Union ministers C K Jaffer Shareef and C M Ibrahim, Urban Development minister R Roshan Baig and MLC Rizwan Arshad attended the special prayers organised at Masjid-E-Khadria on Millers Road.

As their parents prayed, little children dressed in colourful clothes played with friends. Elders tried to teach young boys and girls the correct way to say their prayers.

After the religious prayers, the mood was relaxed and families clicked selfies in their festival attire. Kids posed for photos in their colourful headscarves and kandura. Friends and relatives embraced and wished each other on the occasion.

People spent the rest of the day enjoying home cooked festival specialties with their close family and friends.
