DC visits Sugaturu hobli, inspects development works

 Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Trilokchandra visited the various villages of Sugaturu hobli in Kolar taluk on Saturday and inspected the development projects being implemented there.

Development of lakes, road construction, construction of Raja Kaluve, sowing of fodder seeds, digging up of trenches, etc, were inspected by him.

The deputy commissioner checked the protection wall being built around the pond at Hosamatnahalli village at a cost of Rs 3 lakh. He instructed the officials of the Public Works Department to immediately clear the encroachment of land by a brick kiln factory on the way to Chitnahalli from Aaleri on Kolar-Chintamani Road.

Trilokchandra visited the Annikere tank in Totli village and took stock of the drive being implemented to clear the encroachment of the 13 km-long Raja Kaluve. The encroachment is being cleared at a cost of Rs 18 lakh and trenches are being dug around the Annikeri tank for over 1,240 metres. Fodder seeds and cactus have been sown in the trenches which act as natural fencing around the tank.

Desiltation works have been implemented in the lake and silt from the lakebed has been cleared. There were hindrances in the smooth flow of rainwater in the Raja Kaluve and stone bunds are being constructed at 57 places. Trikolchandra expressed his happiness over the construction of two cattle ponds (Gow Kalyanis) in the village.

On the occasion, secretaries of the Annikere Lake Development Committee Prabhakar and T V Ramesh and Gram Panchayat members Chandrashekhar and Thammegowda requested the deputy commissioner to seek at least 3,500 variety of saplings from the Forest department to be transplanted around the Annikere lake which is spread over 42 acres of land. They also requested Trilokchandra to get the stone bund around the lake repaired.

The FES organisation has transplanted a variety of horticultural plants, including gooseberry, jamoon, etc, on the government farm in Kakinatta village. The deputy commissioner was informed that a few private individuals had encroached upon the government land and had also destroyed the saplings. Trilokchandra immediately called the tahsildar over phone and instructed him to conduct a survey of the farm and clear the encroachment.

Manager of FES organisation Shivaraj Shetty, engineers Uttanna, Venugopal, Manjunath, Naveen Babu and others were present on the occasion.
