The Lokayukta police have filed the charge sheet in connection with irregularities in the recruitment of 197 assistant public prosecutors (APPs).
Former Director of Prosecution Chandrashekhar Hiremath and administrative officer Narayanaswamy have been named in the charge sheet.
The Lokayukta police have stated that both former director Hiremath and administrative officer Narayanaswamy were involved in replacing the answer booklets after making entries.
The Lokayukta police had completed the investigation and were waiting for the prosecution sanction order from the Home Department against Narayanaswamy.
The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) had confirmed the handwriting of Narayana- swamy in the fudged answer sheets. The police had arrested Narayanaswamy in March 2017. The police are now waiting for FSL report on the remaining answer scripts sent for verification. Earlier, police had sent as many as 75 answer sheets, suspected to have been manipulated after the examination.
Stapler pins
The FSL report stated that a senior judicial officer’s signature was also forged by Narayanaswamy. The report not only confirmed the handwriting, but also pointed out to the different type of stapler pins used in the fudged answer scripts.
The notification calling for applications for the post of APPs was issued in 2012. The answer sheets were manipulated and the final list too was fudged.
Tampered answer sheets
Narayanaswamy tampered with the answer sheets on the instructions of main accused Chandrashekhar Hiremath.
