The Halasuru Gate traffic police arrested a 35-year-old ambulance driver for drunk-driving on Thursday.

The police intercepted the ambulance around 11.30 am when it jumped the signal at Devanga Hostel Junction. The sirens of the ambulance were not on. The police team at the junction flagged down the ambulance and asked the driver Kantharaju to get down. After getting down, the driver avoided talking to the policemen.

On suspicion, the policemen subjected the driver to an alcometer test and found the alcohol level was beyond permissible limits of 129 mg/dL.

Kantharaju told the police that he was working for Sanjeevini, a private ambulance service and was on his way from Yeshwantpur to his office in Shantinagar. The police booked Kantharaju for drunk-driving and seized the ambulance.
