Keertana B, a student of Poornaprajna Education Centre, Bhadravathi, was disappointed when SSLC results were announced last month as she had missed the second topper spot by just five marks. But now, her joy knows no bounds as she has got 624/625, post-revaluation.

The girl had scored maximum marks in four subjects - Kannada (125), English (100), Social Sciences (100) and Hindi (100). She had got 99 in  Mathematics and 95 in Science. Her total stood at 619 marks out of 625.

She applied for the photocopy of the Science answer script. Keertana found she was not given full marks for descriptive questions despite writing the correct answers. The school teachers asked her to apply for revaluation and she was confident of getting five marks more in Science. As expected, she received five more marks and her total rose to 624 from 619. She is the daughter of M Bhyrappa, an  employee with the social welfare department, and Latha, a homemaker. They are residents of Upper Hutta in Bhadravathi.

The girl has joined Sir MV PU College in Davangere in science stream. She wants to become a doctor in future. Ranjan B S of the same school had set a record by scoring 625 marks out of 625 in SSLC for the first time in the state last year. So, the school authorities were disappointed as none of the students was among the top three this year. Now, the school staff and management are in an upbeat mood.

Bhyrappa told DH they were glad that at last she got the reward for her hard work. “She had told us she had written the correct answers in Science and there was no chance of losing five marks. So, we encouraged her to go for revaluation.”
