VHP stages demonstration demanding resignation of Rai

The Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists have demanded the immediate resignation of Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister Ramanath Rai and blocked the stretch at service bus stop near Clock Tower.

Addressing the agitators, Uttara Kashi Mutt seer Sri Ramachandra Swami strongly condemned the minister’s remarks on Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and charged that Rai has crossed the limits of decency. “Rai should have thought of his position before indulging in the cheap act of insulting a personality, whom he is not aware of. He forced the district police head to arrest Bhat,” said the seer.

Using police

The Swami also alleged that the minister is targeting the Hindu organisations in the coastal area and using the police as weapon to execute his aspirations. The minister should be held responsible for the untoward incidents that are taking place in the area. He is also responsible for the disruption of peace, he added.

The seer also cautioned that if the minister fails to apologise, the Hindu organisations will intensify the agitation.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Vilas Nayak said that the Police Department is misused by the government. “The minister should immediately resign and apologise for his derogatory remarks against Prabhakar Bhat.

The chief minister should also seek the resignation of the minister. Otherwise, he should take stern action by removing Rai from the Cabinet. The minister would also be sued in court if he does not apologise,” he warned.
