Complaint against Ramanath Rai for 'misuse of powers'

Last Updated 19 June 2017, 18:51 IST
BJP SC Morcha district unit president Dinesh Amtoor has complained against District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai, for pressuring SP Bhushan G Borase to book a case against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat.

The president filed a complaint with the Bantwal town police against the minister for misusing his powers.

In the complaint, Amtoor said that by pressurising the superintendent to arrest Bhat under IPC Section 307, Rai is instigating communal violence in the district. He has also urged the authorities to initiate legal action against Rai.

On the other hand, amid prohibitory order under Section 144, a statue of Hanuman was installed at the Sri Rama Bhajana Mandira in Kalladka on Monday peacefully.  Prabhakar Bhat, who is Sri Ramanjaneya Seva Trust president, anointed the statue.

‘Drop from Cabinet’

BJP Udupi district president Mattar Ratnakar Hegde demanded an apology from Ramanath Rai for his ‘offensive remarks’ against Prabhakar Bhat.

Speaking to media persons, the president said that the chief minister should immediately drop the minister from the Cabinet.

“The minister should resign from his post owing moral responsibility. The police head of the district himself has clarified that youths, under the influence of alcohol and drugs, were responsible for the Kalladka incident, and not Bhat himself. How can the minister issue such nasty comments,” he questioned.

Hegde alleged that the Police Department is misused by the Congress leaders. The ministers are despotic and they exploit the police personnel for their conveniences, he accused.
