Gang held for robberies

Last Updated 15 June 2017, 19:18 IST

Electronics City police have arrested a gang of 12, including a 20-year-old woman who used to lure motorists on NICE Road, to help her gang rob them. The kingpin of the gang Sawan Bablu, 24, who was involved in over 25 robbery cases, is a college dropout and a habitual offender, police said.

Bablu would make the woman stand at isolated spots on NICE Road to lure passersby on the pretext of providing sexual favours. She would take them to an isolated place where the gang would be waiting. The suspects would then blackmail and assault the victim, before robbing him of valuables. A few of the victims had approached the police.

Police kept tabs on locations on NICE Road and during patrolling, they caught Bablu after a long chase. The others were arrested later. He then confessed to robberies. DCP (Southeast) M B Boralingaiah said Bablu was a habitual offender booked for multiple cases.
