JOIN US Karnataka has just one university which figures in the international ranking list of the first 200 and, one state university has made it to the top 100 in the list of Ministry of Human Resources & Development (MHRD).
Replying to J R Lobo (Cong) in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddy said Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has 190th ranking in the quality list prepared by QS World University Rankings. The varsity comes under the MHRD.
In the national ranking list, University of Mysore occupies the 57th position. Other universities and ranking given to them by the MHRD are: IISc (1); Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (2); IIMB (25); Manipal Academy of Higher Education (30); National Institute of Technology, Suratkal (65) and Jagadguru Sri Shivaratreshwara University (74).
