Polo Team led by Jaipur's Padmanabh wins the match in UK against Prince William

In a closely contested 2017 Maserati Royal Charity Polo match at Beaufort Polo Club near London in the United Kingdom, the Dhamani 1969 polo team led by 18-year-old Sawai Padmanabh Singh, a member of the erstwhile royal family of Jaipur won the match by half a goal.

The opposing Maserati team was led by HRH the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William. Prince William took part in the game in aid of the charities Child Bereavement UK and Fields in Trust, of which he is the patron. However, opponents including HH The Maharaja of Jaipur, Karan Thapar, Nina Clarkin and Olly Tuthill proved just too strong. It is to be noted that it is for the second time that Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur has led a team against Prince William and won.

Padmanabh Singh with an outstanding polo skills and performance in the past few years his handicap has risen to +2.  Excited, Singh who scored two goals told media over the phone, "This was the third generation of the two royal families (England and Jaipur) playing polo together. I enjoyed playing thoroughly."

The Dhamani 1969 team led by Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur (+2) had players Karan Thapar (0), Nina Clarkin (+4) and Olly Tuthill (+4). The Maserati team led by Prince William (+1) had players Mark Tomlinson (+6), Henry Porter (+2) and Bruce Merivale-Austin (0).

Singh who is often referred as Polo Prince of Jaipur has been also selected in the Indian Polo team. He will be the youngest ever polo player to represent India in a World Cup match. The XI World Cup Zonal Play Offs are scheduled to be held in Iran from 29 June to 7 July this year.
