All-round Suneel does star turn

A fine effort with bat and ball from Suneel Raju helped Friends Union Cricket Club grab three points from their drawn match against Cambridge Cricket Club in the KSCA Group I, Division I league tournament for the Sir Mirza Ismail Shield here.

Batting first, Friends Union posted a commanding 387 for four declared from 81 overs with Kunal Kapoor striking 179 off 237 balls aided by 19 hits to the fence. Raju wasn’t too far behind, slamming of 173 from 205 balls, studded with 11 fours and nine maximums.

Raju then stepped up with the ball to return figures of 5/38 and despite good knocks from Ashish Dhar (81) and Anurag Bajpai (84), Cambridge conceded the first innings lead and could only gather a solitary point.
