Microsoft announces new Xbox at E3

Microsoft announced the name of their next Xbox console, codenamed 'Project Scorpio' at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles today. The console is named Xbox One X and will launch in November for the price of $499.

Microsoft boasts the Xbox One X to be the most powerful console in history and claim they have designed it with 4K gaming in mind. The console packs a custom AMD CPU and graphics chip, 12 GB of RAM running at a bandwidth of 326 GB/s and, according to Microsoft, has a total compute power of 6 Teraflops.

Microsoft showcased the console during their presentation, running games such as Assassin's Creed: Origins, Metro Exodus and Forza Motorsport 7 in 4K. They also announced that games from the original Xbox will run on the Xbox One X and Minecraft crossplay, allowing people on Xbox, Nintendo Switch and Apple devices to play the hit game with each other.
