JOIN USA 26-year-old youth from Telangana was shot at by unidentified assailants of African-American origin in the early hours of Sunday in California, the US, critically injuring him.
The victim, Mubeen Ahmed, went to the US in 2015 and completed his Master’s degree from Lewis University two months ago. He recently took up a part-time job at a convenience store a few miles away from California.
Mujeeb Ahmed, the victim’s father, said, “I was told that assailants demanded cash and a mobile from my son, but he resisted. He was shot at, resulting in a rupture in his stomach and damage to the
liver.”
Mubeen was rushed to the Eden Medical Centre in Castro Valley where he underwent a surgery. His condition, however, is critical.
A source in Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao’s office said all necessary arrangements will be made to help Mujeeb reach the US at the earliest. Mujeeb’s relatives, who live in Chicago, have reached California and are taking care of him.
In February, a techie from Telangana, Mamidala Vamsi Chander Reddy (27), was shot dead by a fugitive who was trying to flee after robbing a woman in California, a place considered safe for Indian software engineers.
