Last Updated 06 June 2017, 21:05 IST

The main accused in the II PUC Chemistry question paper leak scam, Kumaraswamy, has again approached the High Court of Karnataka seeking a bail.

A native of Gubbi in Tumakuru district, Kumaraswamy was earlier denied bail on the grounds that he was booked under the provisions of the Karnataka Control of Organized Crimes Act, 2000. Kumaraswamy has contended that investigation into the scam has been completed and charge sheet has also been filed.

As some of the other accused in the scam have been granted bail, his advocate argued the Kumaraswamy too was liable to be released from the prison. The prosecution has, however, argued not to release Kumaraswamy on bail as there are serious allegation against him. Hearing the petition, Justice Rathnakala directed the state government to file its objections in two weeks and adjourned the hearing.
