No new Omni ambulances

The Transport Department has withdrawn the notification allowing Maruti Omni vans to be registered as ambulances.

Following a media report that some RTOs were refusing to renew the fitness certificate of the existing Omni ambulances, the commissioner for transport and road safety said only the registration of the new Omnis has been stopped. “The fitness certificate of the existing Omni ambulances, which have already been registered, shall be renewed as per rules,” the commissioner said in a statement.
