Last Updated 04 June 2017, 20:57 IST

Former corporator V Nagaraj, who has been arrested in a money laundering case, is said to have amassed properties worth Rs 40 crore.

The Hennur police recently arrested Nagaraj and his two sons Gandhi and Shastri in a money laundering case.
“He has five houses in his name in Srirampuram, including three four-storey and two five-storey houses. He has a piece of land and a farmhouse near Nelamangala,” said a senior police officer.

The police said Nagaraj had earned these properties before demonetisation. There was no provision in the law to interrogate him regarding his properties, he said.

Nagaraj reportedly exchanged demonetised notes in Tamil Nadu and brought new notes from there. He reportedly gave the new notes to a few industrialists in the city.
