MBA student, helmetless biker among 4 killed in accidents

 Four people were killed in as many road accidents in the city since Monday. A two-wheeler rider was killed on the spot in Kamakshipalya in the wee hours of Tuesday. The victim Rustom (28), a resident of Nagarabhavi, was a painter.

According to the police, around 12.30 am, Rustom crashed his bike into a stationary lorry on the outer ring road near Summanahalli, while returning home. He was not wearing a helmet.

A woman, who was riding pillion on a scooter, was killed on the spot after she came under the front wheel of a truck in BK Nagar main road in Yeshwantpur on Tuesday. Khadarunnisa (31), a resident of Gokul Layout in Mathikere, lost balance, fell off the scoteer and came under the front wheel of the truck. The accident occurred around 9.30 am when the victim was going to Yeshwantpur market on her husband Shafiullah’s bike along with their 14-year-old son.

Eyewitnesses told the police that the victim’s son was riding the scooter when the accident occurred. The police are examining the CCTV footage to verify the claims.

In a hit-and-run case, Fathima Bi (64), a pedestrian, was knocked down by a two-wheeler when she was crossing the road in Goraguntepalya on Tuesday. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.

The police are examining the CCTV footage from nearby areas to establish the identity of the vehicle.
An MBA student of a private college was killed on the spot in a collision between a bike and a truck in Chikkajala on Monday. The deceased Manoj Prabhakar Y (22), a resident of Challakere here, hailed from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.

The accident occurred around 2 pm when he was going to Banaswadi from Hebbal. The speeding truck driver failed to control the vehicle when he approached Mariyannapalya on Outer Ring Road and hit the bike, said the police.

Chandraskhekhar (54), the truck driver from T Dasarahalli, fled the spot after the accident. However, he surrendered before the KG Halli police. Later, he was handed over to the Chikkajala police.
