Engineering graduates told to take up civil services exam

VTU VC advises students to explore unconventional avenues

 Expertise counts more than academic excellence in the field of education, vice chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Karisiddappa on Monday said.

At the graduation ceremony 2017 of BE, MTech and MBA graduates at Adhichunchanagiri Institute of Technology (AIT) here, he said the current age of information technology opens many avenues in innovations with the help of smart phones. While the knowledge of computers is a must for every student, technical expertise is another must while fetching a job later, he observed.

Apart from conventional paths, graduates should also try their hands on civil services by taking up UPSC and KPSC examinations, besides higher studies in MS, MTech and ME and research options for PhD, Prof Karibasappa said.

The students should hone skills in general knowledge and development commitment, perseverance and skills with a far-sighted vision to excel.

Adhichunchanagiri Mutt seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha said, “Learning should be a never-ending process and one should develop better behaviour and discipline to tread the path of success.”
