Class X and Class XII board students of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) will get digitally signed marksheets and pass certificates from the DigiLocker from this year.

The CISCE has decided to send the academic certificates of the students of its schools to the DigiLocker, a a facility created by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology for under 'Digital India' programme for safe storage and retrieval of the academic certificates and other important documents of the citizens.

“The students who took board examinations this year will be the first once to get digitally signed statement of marks and pass certificates,” Chief Executive and Secretary of the CISCE Gerry Arathoon told DH.

Students will also be able to access digitally signed migration certificates from the DigiLocker from this year, he added.

“The CISCE has partnered with the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, in enabling extension of the DigiLocker to candidates of Class X (ICSE) and Class XII (ISC) of its affiliated schools,” the Council earlier said in a statement.

The DigiLocker provides dedicated personal electronic space in a Government-owned public cloud storage where an individual can keep his or her documents, files or certificates.

“The individual is also able to download or share them online with various stakeholders as and when required. The storage space is linked to the Aaadhar number of the user. The service is free, secure and user friendly,” Arathoon said.

To access the digitally signed documents, candidates are required to create an account with the DigiLocker.

“After logging into the DigiLocker account, the candidates can follow the instructions on the dashboard to access the required documents,” the Council said.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) began sending marksheets and other certificates of its class X and XII board students to DigiLocker for their safe storage and retrieval last year.
