Over 50,000 students from across the country appeared for the COMEDK UGET 2017 online entrance test on Sunday.

The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) test was held at 290 centres across India of which 58 centres were in Bengaluru and 115 across Karnataka. In the state, 22,484 students attended the exam while 58,932 students wrote the exam at various centres across the country. The examination is being held as an entrance test for admission to engineering colleges in Karnataka from 2016.

“The exam was easier compared to other entrance exams I have attempted. The questions were very straightforward. Maths was a little tough and Chemistry section was easy. None of the questions was out of the prescribed syllabus,” said Pakhi Sumbli, a student from New Delhi who wrote the exam at RV College of Engineering.

Sandeep Naidu, a student of Narayana College, said, “The exam was very easy for those who has studied the concepts well and whose basics were clear. Compared to exams in the past few years, this year’s exam was easy.”

A few of the students felt it was moderately tough. “The exam was  moderate as some sections like Maths were tough. I felt a few questions were out of the syllabus. However, some sections in the exam were easy,” said R Vishal, a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Hebbal who aspires to pursue Electronics and Communication. “The exam was moderately easy and most of the questions were expected,” said Pallavi Kurumba, a student from Andhra Pradesh who wrote the exam in the city.

Of the 58 centres in the city, three reported a delay in log in time for some students. However the built-in mechanism allowed for extending the time to the extent of delay.

“No malpractices were reported from any of the test centres. The provisional answer keys will be notified on the COMEDK website on May 18 and the score cards will be made available to the candidates on May 29,” said Dr S Kumar, executive secretary of COMEDK.
