Karnataka post big win in opener

Subal Kerketta emerged as the star performer as Hockey Karnataka drubbed Chhattisgarh Hockey 8-0 in their opening Pool ‘D’ game in the 7th Hockey India Sub-junior men’s (‘A’ Division) national championship here on Thursday. Subal slammed four goals (3rd, 13th, 18th, 42nd minutes) while Praveen Kumar Thalari (25th), Rohit Panna (46th), Jorson Singh Mairembam (49th) and Karthik Kumar Y (63rd) chipped in with a goal each.
Subal put Karnataka ahead in the third minute and then added another ten minutes later. Subal got his third when he converted a penalty corner in the 18th minute. Praveen then got into the scoresheet in the 25th minute as Karnataka went to the break with a 4-0 lead.
Subal continued to trouble the hapless Chhattisgarh side after the break as well and netted his fourth in the 42nd minute, also a penalty corner conversion.  Rohit and Jorson struck a goal each before  Karthik completed the rout in the 63rd minute.
