Priestly system is misleading society, says seer

The priestly system is misleading the society in the name of ‘Shastra’, ‘Jyotishya’ and ‘Panchanga’, opined Sanehalli Mutt seer Sri Panditaradhya Shivacharya Swami.

He was speaking during the mass marriage ceremony organised by Ashraya Samajika Seva Samsthe and Ambedkar Jayanti celebration committee at Adyantaya Rangamandira in Mudigere on Wednesday.

“Members of a specific group which has been conducting religious rituals has been claiming that they alone know the truth. But, in this programme, people belonging to Dalit community chant folk songs during the ceremony, which is laudable,” said the seer.

He called upon the newly wed couples to lead a life of understanding.  Singer B K Sumitra said that the couple should not let their ego come in between their relationship.

Superintendent of Police Bengaluru Siddaraju said that the ideology of Dr B R Ambedkar should be instilled in the lives of people in the real sense and should complement the objectives of the Constitution.

MLC Motamma said that simple marriages are being conducted with an objective that the people should not avail loans for marriage functions. “The newly married couple should lead a simple life, provide good education to their children and set an example to others,” she said.  The MLC also called upon the educated youth to have simple marriages.

MLA B B Ningaiah, MLC M K Pranesh, Taluk Panchayat president K C Ratan and Town Panchayat president Rameejabi were present during the ceremony.
