A farmer committed suicide on Monday as he had lost his house, bullock cart, foodgrains and cash borrowed as loans, in a fire accident at Hanchnal village in Savadatti taluk last week.
Ramchandra Kambar (56) was depressed as officials had ‘wrongly’ estimated the losses and, he committed suicide by consuming poison, members of his family claimed.
BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa visited the farmer’s house and consoled the family. He also gave them a financial aid of Rs 1 lakh.
