Techie dies as his bike falls off flyover

A software engineer died on the spot as his motorcycle crashed into the parapet of a flyover and tumbled down on Sunday morning, police said.

Praveen Mahapatra (28) was riding to his home in Doddategur after visiting a friend in Whitefield when he lost control of the two-wheeler near the BMTC bus depot in Electronic City on Hosur Road, south Bengaluru, around 6.15 am. The accident spot has a deviation towards the left. Mahapatra crashed into the wall and fell 30 feet. He died instantly from serious injuries, police added. The body has been sent for post-mortem which will be conducted on Monday. The deceased was a native of Odisha.

Woman falls to death

A 70-year-old woman died on the spot after falling from the fourth floor of her apartment at 9th Cross in Annapurneshwari Nagar, west Bengaluru, on Saturday. Rathnamma had gone to the fourth floor of Anjali Residency apartment to collect the clothes. While walking down the stairs, she lost balance and fell down, police said. She was living with her son, Krishna.
