11 areas in Mangaluru cleaned as part of drive

A cleanliness drive was organised at 11 locations by the Ramakrishna Mission in association with various organisations in Mangaluru on Sunday.

The drive was organised in association with Campco Ltd from Rao and Rao Circle to Bunder Main Road. More than 100 employees of the Campco Ltd and senior volunteers of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan participated in the drive for nearly two and a half hours. The members of Sri Subramanya Sabha and residents of Karangalpady also participated in the cleanliness drive. Weeds and grass were removed by the volunteers.

The members of Team Inspiration under the leadership of SI Madan carried out the drive from Bhavanthi Street till Car Street. Along with cleaning the road, they cleared the adjoining drains of garbage and construction debris. They also removed the posters stuck on the walls of the buildings by the road.

The members of Nivedita Balaga carried out the drive on Bolara Main Road, cleaning the road and the adjoining drains. The volunteers also removed the posters and illegal banners put up on various locations on the road.

The members of the Hindu Warriors team carried out the drive from AB Shetty Circle to Pandeshwara. The road opposite Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and the road dividers were cleaned. Debris of construction materials lying on the road and footpaths were removed.

At VT Road, the devotees of Sri Gokarna Mutt and the local residents carried out the drive in the surroundings of Sri Vithoba Temple. The members of Sri Amba Maheshwari Bhajana Mandir took up the drive near Jeppu Market. They painted the walls and also maintained a garden created on the dumping place at Mulihithlu. The members of the youth centre carried out the drive from Padil Junction to Batlagudde Shanthi Nagar.

The members of the Swacch Shivabagh team carried out the drive at Shivabagh 3rd Cross. The members of the Sri Patanjali Yoga Shikshana Samithi joined the drive that was held from Attavara Rotary Club to Uma Maheshwari Temple.

At Emmekere, the members of the Sri Sharada Mahila Vrinda carried out the drive. They cleaned the road and both sides of the roads and adjoining drains.

Earth to Earth, an awareness programme to create awareness on solid waste management and segregation of garbage, was organised by the members of the Sri Amba Maheshwari Bhajana Mandir. Nandini, resource person, explained the method of garbage segregation at home and how to make manure and compost through demonstration and charts.
