Janardhana Reddy adopts tiger cubs, elephant calf

Mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy on Thursday adopted three three-month-old tiger cubs and a six-month-old male elephant calf at Bannerghatta Biological Park.

BBP executive director Santosh Kumar told DH that Reddy will spend Rs 3 lakh for the care of the three cubs and Rs 1.75 lakh for the elephant calf. He was given a certificate for it too.

The adoption is for a year, where the one who adopts the animals is informed about the health of the animals. The adoption is tax free.

Kumar said Reddy had visited the zoo with his family around 10 days ago and had shown keen interest in the animals and on the adoption. After collecting details, he promised to return and on Thursday he adopted the animals.
