JOIN USThe police on Sunday registered a fresh case against former corporator V Nagaraj a day after he released a video claiming that demonetised notes worth Rs 14.80 crore recovered from his house belonged to the chief minister’s personal assistant and four senior IPS officers.
Based on a complaint filed by Arun, a realtor-cum-garage owner from Nagarbhavi, the Srirampura police registered a case against Nagaraj.
Arun told the police that he was introduced to Nagaraj by his friend Selvam. Nagaraj told Arun that he would charge 25% commission for the exchange of demonetised notes.
He collected Rs 5 crore from his friends and other realtors and went to Nagaraj’s house on January 7, 2017.
There was an argument between Arun and Nagaraj over the rate of commission. Gandhi, Shastri and Nagaraj’ associates threatened Arun with lethal weapons and assaulted him. They robbed Arun of demonetised notes and sent him away, according to the complaint.
Yet another case
The police may register another case against Nagaraj on Monday for making derogatory remarks against Hennur police station inspector Srinivas. The inspector has approached senior officers seeking permission to lodge a complaint and he is likely to be allowed to do so.
In the video, Nagaraj had even questioned the inspector’s stand of registering a case against him though he was not a resident of Hennur, but of Srirampura. He had claimed that he would obtain bail in four days, come out and sit next to the policemen to face any action.
There seems to be more trouble for Nagaraj considering the Union government’s notification barring people from possessing more than 10 demonetised notes. There is a provision to levy fines up to 10 times the worth of the demonetised notes recovered from a person.
