Bengaluru will host one of the legs of the second edition of Premier Futsal, Dinesh Raj, Managing Director, Premier Futsal announced on Thursday.

At the launch of the Premier Futsal Launchpad, a scouting network that is expected to feed local players to the franchises, Raj said the organisers are confident of staging a bigger and better league this season.

“It’s going to be bigger and better. More big names will play this season. And we’re happy to announce that Bengaluru will host a leg of the league,” he said, in the presence of actor Puneeth Rajkumar.

“Apart from Bengaluru, we are keen on taking the league to the north of India. We are in talks with the authorities there,” he added stating the league will be held during the July-August window.

The inaugural season of the league saw stars like Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Ronaldinho enthrall the spectators.

“Most of the guys who played last year have assured their participation. So Giggs, Scholes, Falcao (Alessandro Vieira) will be here. Meanwhile the franchises are looking at a few other guys too,” he stated.

The Bengaluru leg of the Launchpad is scheduled for the second week of June. “The Bengaluru trials will be held in the second week of June at the Koramangala indoor stadium. We’ll have futsal coaches from UAE and Spain come down and pick talented players from the team (Bangalore 5s),” he explained.

Though the All India Football Federation has derecognised the league, that doesn’t seem to bother the organisers. “That’s something that will keep happening and we are not bothered about it,” said Raj.
