Kartik on top with one-shot lead

The lead changed hands for the third day in a row with Kartik Sharma coming out on top in the penultimate round of the Rotary Bangalore-IGU Karnataka State Amateur Golf Championship here on Thursday.

Unlike the opening two rounds where Harimohan Singh and Aniudh K scorched the Eagleton Golf Resort with blistering performances to seize the lead, West Bengal’s Kartik stayed sedate to take a one-shot lead.

Kartik carded an even-par 72 to total 210 while Varun Parikh hit 70 to lie second. Pukhraj Singh Gill also nailed a 70 to lie third at 212 while pace-setter Harimohan kept himself in the hunt with a 74 (213).

Gurjot Badwal shot a second successive 80 to stay on pole in the Ladies segment but Anika Varma from Category B was the overall best performer with a total of 150 (74, 76).

Category A: 152: Ishvari Prasanna (78, 74); 154: Arshia Mahant (76, 78), Sifat Sagoo (75, 79).

Cat B: 150: Anika Varma (74, 76); 151: Khushi Hooda (75, 76); 156: Rhea Purvi Saravanan (80, 76).
