Horatti to meet Gowda over JD(S) revival

Last Updated 05 April 2017, 19:05 IST

JD(S) MLC Basavaraj Horatti, on behalf of a section of academicians, has sought time from party president H D Deve Gowda to discuss the party’s stand on various issues.

In a letter to Gowda, a copy of which was released to the media on Wednesday, Horatti, an MLC, has said that certain political science lecturers had met him recently. They were of the view that if the JD(S) has to come back to power, then it should make its stand clear on 10 subjects.

The subjects include the party’s programme for youngsters, measures to be taken to tackle unemployment, plans to revive small scale industries and on what issues the next Assembly elections would be fought.

Horatti claimed that there are people who still remember the “constructive work” done by the JD(S)-led government. But the party has to strengthen its base in North Karnataka and there are leaders who are ready to take that responsibility, he said.
