DK police start beat system in rural areas

The beat police will be assigned most of the duties performed by the police, such as monitoring  works related to passport verification, job verification, gun licence history-sheeter, addressing women and children’s issues and so on. A total of 250 beats have been identified, the SP said.

Responding to a grievance, Borase said the highway department has been asked to purchase reflectors and cylindrical cones to prevent road accidents following traffic congestion on B C Road.

The health department will provide first aid kits to dhaba and hotel employees, along with providing first aid training to them, so that they can do the first aid for minor injuries, he said.

Saraswathi from Sullia urged that the youths belonging to SC/ST communities from the district should be considered for the vacant posts in government departments. She said the Devaraj Urs Corporation is not providing pump sets for borewells drilled two years ago by the people belonging to SC/ST in Sullia.

The SP said that the district police have produced short videos on RTE and various other matters of public interest and these will be circulated on social networking sites to create awareness among the people.

The staff crunch in the police stations in Bantwal was also discussed during the meeting. Borase directed the sub-inspectors to book cases against those who sell liquor illegally in general shops.

Shekhar, who took part in the discussion, urged the SP to book suo motu cases against fake astrologers. The SP said the official concerned has been directed to book FIR against such astrologers.
