The HAL police arrested three people who murdered a person after robbing him of his mobile phone and wrist watch on March 12 night. The police said the arrested are Shariff (23), Jabiullah (24) and Farooq (24), all residents of Annasandra Palya. They were all arrested in Hoskote. They had murdered Raju, a native of Tamil Nadu and a construction labourer. On March 12, Raju arrived in the city from Tamil Nadu.

Around 11 pm, he was walking near Annasandra Palya to visit his sister and brother-in-law, as they had invited him to attend a ceremony. The trio noticed that Raju was walking alone and the road was deserted. They pounced on him and tried to snatch his mobile phone and wrist watch, said the police.

But Raju fought back and tried to escape. The trio managed to catch Raju and stabbed him repeatedly and fled. Raju died on the spot and a case was registered in HAL police station.

The police said they examined the spot and gathered the CCTV footage, which showed the trio moving around suspiciously. They identified a suspect as a habitual offender and tracked his mobile phone calls. They were found to be hiding in Hoskote from where they were arrested. Jabbiullah had been to jail in connection with a murder case.
