Yogi makes surprise check of stations

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday paid a surprise visit to a police station in the state capital.

The chief minister wanted to make a first-hand assessment of the working of the police personnel and facilities available there for the complainants.

Accompanied by state police chief Javeed Ahmed, Adityanath arrived at the Hazratganj police station and scrutinised the records, besides inspecting the arrangements.

The chief minister directed the police officials to ensure registration of complaints and quick action on the same.

He said law and order was his government’s top priority and no laxity would be tolerated on this front. Adityanath also directed senior officials to provide housing facilities to women officers, besides arrangement of separate toilets for them inside the stations. “Such surprise inspections will continue,” he said.

Minister cleans office
Angry over the lack of cleanliness in his office, newly appointed Environment Minister Upendra Tiwari took upon himself to clean the premises. According to reports, Tiwari, an MLA from the Phephna in Ballia district, cleaned the floor of his office here on Thursday.

The matter came to light when pictures showing the minister sweeping the office floor went viral on social media. Adityanath had his ministers take a ‘swachchata’ pledge at his first meeting with them a few days ago.

Stop pulling strings, PM warns UP MPs  
Backing Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked MPs from the state not to use their influence to get work done from the state government, DHNS reports from New Delhi.

At a breakfast meeting, the prime minister specifically asked the MPs not to put pressure on the administration to get transfers and preferred postings of police personnel close to them.

Though the chief minister has launched a crackdown on  slaughterhouses, one of the BJP’s poll promises, Modi reached out to the minorities by reiterating that the state government would truly work towards “sabka sath, sabka vikas”, even if it meant developing constituencies won by the opposition.
