Yogi allots portfolios

Three days after being sworn in as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday allocated portfolios to his ministers keeping as many as 38 departments, including home, with himself.

According to official sources here, state BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya, who is also one of the deputy chief ministers, has been given the important public works department (PWD) along with food processing and two other ministries.

The other deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma, who teaches commerce at Lucknow University, gets secondary and higher education, science & technology, electronics and information technology departments.

Former state BJP president Surya Pratap Shahi has been given agriculture, while eight time MLA Suresh Khanna gets parliamentary affairs along with urban development. Former Bahujan Samaj Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya, who joined the BJP on the eve of the polls and won from Kushinagar seat, has been allocated labour and two other departments.

Senior BJP leaders Satish Mahana and Rajesh Agarwal have been allotted industrial development and finance respectively, sources said.

Former Uttar Pradesh Congress president Reeta Bahuguna Joshi, who too had joined the BJP a few days before the polls, has been given women and family welfare department.

Former Test cricket player Chetan Chauhan has been allotted sports ministry.
