'Slain Coimbatore man not accused in Malleswaram blast'

The CCB sleuths who suspected that one H Farooq (31) who was murdered in Coimbatore was an accused in the Malleswaram BJP office bomb blast case, later found that he was not involved in the case.

The CCB sleuths visited a Coimbatore hospital where the body was kept and learnt that he was not the accused.

Those arrested in connection with the Malleswaram bomb blast case are suspected have ordered Farooq’s killing from jails in Tamil Nadu. The police will probe possible links with the arrested persons and Farooq.

A person named Ansad (30) has surrendered before a local court in connection with Farooq’s murder. It is learnt that Ansad had links with the Malleswaram bomb blast accused and may have killed Farooq on their directions. Ansad is being questioned and will also be interrogated by the Bengaluru CCB police soon.

Who is Farooq?
Farooq is a member of Dravida Vidudhalai Kazhagham (DVK) and owned a scrap shop in Ukkadam. He was living with his wife and two children, said a CCB officer. On March 16, an unknown person spoke to Farooq over phone and asked him to meet him to discuss a business deal. The caller took Farooq to a deserted place and killed him with the help of four others.

Farooq used to upload posts about religious rights on Facebook and WhatsApp. In this connection, he was also assaulted earlier. It is suspected that he might have been killed for the same reason.
