24-year-old youth killed in 'hit & run' case near ORR

A 24-year-old youth was killed in a road accident near Bhima Jewellers on the Outer Ring Road near Banaswadi in the early hours of Saturday.

The deceased is Balu, a resident of RT Nagar and a native of Kerala. He worked for a private company.

Balu was going to his friend’s house in Kammanahalli around 12.30 am when the incident took place. Police shifted Balu to a private hospital. But doctors declared him brought dead.

The passersby said it was a hit-and-run case. But according to the police, the CCTV footage did not show any vehicle at the spot at the time of the accident. “Nothing can be ruled out for now. We are examining more CCTV footage,” the police said.

It is suspected that Balu might have skidded off the road due to overspeeding.  He was not wearing a helmet, police said. There are also chances of him riding under the influence of alcohol. But everything will be ascertained only after the post-mortem report comes, they said.

A case has been registered at Banaswadi traffic police station.
