BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa has said that by forming governments in four states post 2017 Assembly elections, the party has proved its growing popularity and trust among the people.

At a programme held in Male Mahadeshwara Hill near here on Thursday, MLA Parimala Nagappa formally joined the party in the presence of the BJP state president. Addressing the party workers, Yeddyurappa said, “The joining of Parimala Nagappa has further strengthened the party as she enjoys people’s support in Hanur. She will be provided with an appropriate position in the party.”

“The BJP’s goal is to make the country Congress-free. The debacle of Congress in Uttar Pradesh, which has the highest Assembly constituencies in the country, proves that the Congress has lost its roots. Impressed by Narendra Modi’s style of functioning, even minorities have voted for the BJP,” he said.

Unhappy with the corruption and misgovernance of the Congress, the people of the state are moving towards the BJP, he said.

Kickback for steel flyover
Continuing his tirade against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Yeddyurappa said, “Siddaramaiah has received a kickback of Rs 66 crore from private parties in connection with the steel bridge in Bengaluru. Also, taxpayers money to the tune of Rs 600 crore was sent to party party high command. All these and much more have been mentioned in the diary confiscated from MLC Govindaraju

Parimala Nagappa said, “Hanur is facing severe drought and people are migrating in search of jobs. There is no fodder for livestock but people’s representatives are least bothered.”
