Days after a Northeast student was assaulted by his landlord in Hulimavu, the father of the victim has written to the Hulimavu police station on Sunday seeking action against the suspect.

A senior police officer said that on Monday, Higio Tama, father of Higio Gungtey, who was assaulted by Hemanth Kumar, the owner of the house and advocate on March 6, has submitted a written complaint. “The matter is being looked into and necessary action will be taken. An FIR has already been registered based on the complaint filed by Gungtey,” added the officer.

The written complaint submitted by Tama stated that his son Gungtey and his two friends rented out the house in Dodamma Layout, Hulimavu owned by Kumar a year ago.
The agreement was made in the name of his son’s friends Mridupawan Bharali and Rajeev Ranjan Singh.

Kumar told Gungtey that his name was not required in the agreement and mentioned that he was a lawyer and would take care of it. But on March 6, Kumar assaulted Gungtey and his friends falsely accusing them of wasting water, said the police.

The police mentioned that Kumar’s statement was recorded and he claimed that he had asked the boys not to invite friends for stay over, as there was a water crisis. But Gungtey did not pay heed to his friends and would invite friends, which would result in high consumption of water. Kumar and Gungtey had an argument which ended in Kumar assaulting him.

The investigation is under progress and action will be taken, police said.
