JOIN USThere are no easy holes on this golf course. Beautiful as it looks, it also is dangerous the moment you take your mind of it to admire the scenery around it. It is agony and ecstasy at the same time at the Hero Indian Open.
So to be one-over par after 10 holes, is indeed almost a relief and one can only feel happy at one day being over, or at least a part of it. I will be back in the morning and then contend with the second round, making it a long day and then for the weekend.
The 14th and 17th took a shot off me, though I managed one from the course on the 15th to see myself at one-over through 10 holes. It was a tough day with a 90-minute stoppage, which has extended the first round into the second day. But hopefully we can get the second round done tomorrow to ensure the weekend is smoother. The threat of lightning caused the stoppage though I was not affected by it.
Hats off to Matteo Manassero, who shot four-under in the morning session, and later David Horsey shot five under through 15 holes. Our own SSP Chawrasia, who was smiling all the way, was one-under through 15 playing in the same group as Horsey.
Rigel Fernandes, an amateur, who is down here from US, and who I have seen in my amateur days, shot even par and that is a very good score. He is a fine player and will be enjoying playing in the Hero Indian Open and I expect he will soon turn pro and carry on the good work.
