Last Updated 20 February 2017, 18:58 IST

Social Cricketers triumphed in the YS Ramaswamy Memorial tournament after coasting to a nine-wicket victory in the final over a formidable Swastic Union CC (1) here at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Monday in a day/night affair.

Ritesh Bhatkal shone with the ball, while Rohan Kadam and Bharath Chipli made valuable contributions with the bat to ensure a thumping win.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Social Cricketers’ bowlers restricted their opponents to a modest 168 all out in 44 overs.

Bhatkal was superb with the ball as he grabbed five for 20 and Desmond Antony (2/20) proved to be a handy ally. Swastic Union’s R Samarth, who has been in good form , made 67 from 78 balls studded with five fours and three sixes. But with no support from the other hand, his knock was the lone bright spark in Swastic Union’s innings.

Social Cricketers’ bowlers had to be on top of their game to restrict thier opponents under 168 but it wasn’t to be as Kadam and Chipli deflated Swatic Union in authoritative fashion.

Veteran Chipli was dismissed by Abrar Kazi but not before he had scored a quick-fire 52 off 48 balls. Kadam, though, remained unbeaten on 77 off 78 balls to take his side home.
