JOIN USCubbon Park and the Cubbon Park Metro station buzzed with activity as a part of ‘Neralu,’ the annual tree festival, on Saturday.
Organised by ‘Neralu’, a community of tree-lovers, in association with Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology and National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), the festival is held annually as a tribute to Bengaluru’s trees.
The third edition of the festival started with tree walks at HSR Layout, Indiranagar and Malleswaram to create awareness on tree species.
Prasan Kumar, a Neralu volunteer, said many commuters at Cubbon Park Metro station tried to crack the crossword on tree species. “Videos were screened at the Metro station showcasing the beauty of Cubbon Park,” he added.
Storytelling
A storytelling session by Vikram Sridhar on historical and mythological writings surrounding trees and a music performance by Vipul Rikhi made the day. Ankitha Kabra, a student from Srishti, said: “This is the first time I am taking part in the festival. My artwork is of a boy enjoying commuting by Metro.”
“We have more than 200 volunteers. There has been increased participation and more awareness this year,” said Poornima Kannan, a volunteer and organiser.
