Congress star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday hit the campaign trail in Raebareli, which is the Lok Sabha constituency of her mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

She attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his note ban decision.

Addressing an election meeting at Maharajganj in Raebareli, Priyanka took potshots at Modi for his ‘adopted son of Uttar Pradesh’ remark. She said there are many leaders in the state and it did not need to adopt “an outsider”.

“Modiji committed atrocity on mothers and sisters by making them stand in queues before banks and ATMs (following demonetisation),” she said.

“Uttar Pradesh has many leaders. It does not need to adopt any outsider. Every youth of the state has the potential to become a leader,” Priyanka said.

Modi addressing election rallies at Hardoi and Barabanki districts on Thursday, had said, “Lord Krishna was born in Uttar Pradesh, but had made Gujarat his ‘karmabhoomi’ (the place where one works). I was born in Gujarat, but I have been adopted by Uttar Pradesh.”
