Common papers for Class IV, VI exams in govt, aided schools across state

Annual examinations for students studying in Classes IV and VI in government and aided schools will he held simultaneously across the state this year.

A decision to this effect has been taken to assess the learning levels of students. Hitherto, the annual examinations were held at the school level.

This time, common question papers will be prepared for students across the state and the evaluation will be done at the inter-educational block level. The examinations, which are likely to commence from March 6 will be conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board.

Common exams will be held for Class IV students in Kannada, English, Mathematics and Environmental Studies and for Class VI students in Kannada, English, Hindi and Mathematics.

Officials said the examinations are being held only to assess the learning levels and there will be no declaration of “pass” or “fail”.  The examinations is part of the continuos and comprehensive evaluation taken up by Karnataka School Quality Assessment Council. After the evaluation process, special  attention will be given to students found to have low learning abilities, the officials said.
