Burning rubber with Volkswagen GTI

Last Updated 14 February 2017, 18:41 IST

On a hot Saturday, the red and white shade Volkswagen GTI looked hot and sizzling. Volkswagen, one of the world’s leading car manufacturers, recently organised the GTI experiential drive in Bengaluru on the specially created tracks at Meco Kartopia on Hennur Bagalur Road, which turned out to be an enthralling experience.

A two-door variant, the Volkswagen GTI which makes a strong connect with youth, makes the hottest hatch on the Indian roads.

The car is made at the Pamplona plant in Spain, and will be delivered as a CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) in India at Rs 25.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Powered by a 1.8L 4-cylinder TSI engine mated to a 7-speed automatic DSG transmission producing a blistering 141 kW (192 PS) of raw power, the car hits 0 – 100 kmph in under 7.2 seconds, which makes it one of the fastest hatchbacks globally, and competitive enough to take on rivals like the BMW Mini and Fiat Abarth 595 in India.

The car is also armed with many safety features like ESC (electronic stability control) with driver steering recommendation, ABS (anti-lock braking system), six airbags, ASR (traction control), EDL (electronic differential lock) and EDTC with many more.

The GTI is the perfect combination of a safe and sporty chassis, agile and economic engine, along with a unique and timeless design.
