South Korean delegation takes part in Yoga teachers training programme

“Every time I attend the Yoga conference in Mangalore University, I learn something new to be taken back to my homeland,” South Korea Wonkwang Digital University (WDU) Provost Prof Jong Soon Sue said. She is taking part for the fourth consecutive time in the international Yoga teachers training programme organised by the Department of Human Consciousness and Yogic Sciences at Mangalagangothri.

Prof Sue heads the Yoga Department in Wonkwang Digital University, one of the oldest universities in South Korea. The department promotes and facilitates research and training in Yoga. Prof Sue is very interested in Indian Philosophy, Yoga and also Ayurveda. These subjects have compelled her to carry out study tours to India. She has also obtained a degree in Indian Philosophy from Banaras Hindu University. She also learned Ayurveda and Naturopathy at SDM Ayurveda and Naturopathy College. She is focusing on Ashtanga Yoga this time in the training programme.

She admired the cooperation of the Department of Human Consciousness and Yogic Sciences in Mangalore University and said that she was deeply touched by the hospitality. She has been attending the Yoga conferences in the university from the last three years, along with her students. This time too, she is accompanied by 28 students, from her university.

The delegation comprises Kang Young Mi, Kim Myung Nam, Kim Myoung Ran, Kim Sang Sook, Kim Young Hee, Noh Ji Hyun, Ma Eun Ju, Mun Se Jeong, Park Eun Ju, Bae Yoon Hee, Back Mi Suk, Son Mi Long, Song Ji Youn, Shin In Seo, Shim Jung Eun, Yu Kyung Mi, Yu Mi Yeon, Yoo Mi Hyung, Lee Gi Og, Lee So Yul, Lee Ji Young, Lee Han Na, Lim Yeon Suk, Cho So Yeon, Choi Seong Soon, Hahn Bong Wool, Heo Jae Rin, Hwang Yeon Hoo and Seo Jong Soon. Prof Sue said South Korea has 250 Yoga organisations in both public and private Sectors. The number of people practising yoga has increased to a great extent due to its health benefits, she added.
