The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that all the three persons authorised by it to represent the BCCI would attend the ICC meeting in Dubai. The apex court, while nominating four administrators in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), had on January 30 ordered that Amitabh Choudhary, joint secretary, Anirudh Chaudhry, treasurer, BCCI, and Vikram Limaye, managing director and CEO, IDFC Ltd, would represent the board in the International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings, beginning February 2.
On Wednesday, BCCI CEO Rahul Johri, represented by senior advocate Kapil Sibal, cited a communication from ICC on Tuesday, stating only one person can represent the board. He sought urgent hearing of the issue.
“It must be communicated to ICC that all the three enjoy the same status. That is the purport of the order,” the bench led by Justice Dipak Misra said. Justice Misra added he was not clarifying the order passed by a three-judge bench, also comprising Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud.
During a brief post-lunch hearing, senior advocates Arvind Datar and Shyam Divan, appearing for BCCI, contended that all the three should be allowed to participate in the meeting as stated in the apex court order.
