Amazon Fashion strengthens photo studios

Last Updated 28 January 2017, 17:58 IST

Amazon Fashion India, which has five photo studios in India, is strengthening them further to take head on the growing competition in the market and expand its presence in the country.

In an interaction with DH, Amazon Fashion India Business Head Arun Sirdeshmukh said that his single biggest focus is to make Amazon Fashion the country’s top online destination for fashion.

“To support our aggressive growth momentum in India, we have five fashion studios in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai, part of our Fulfillment Centres. These studios help create and add millions of images of clothes and other fashion merchandise to our site every year,” he said.

According to Sirdeshmukh, opening up of studios will help Amazon boost its inventory by helping it to sell more, and third parties to do the same on their marketplace.

He said with the kind of aggressive growth, Amazon India Fashion is still growing in triple digits and will be able to achieve this objective sooner than later.

“We are excited with the momentum and we will continue to add selection to ensure customers can easily discover the latest in fashion across categories,” said Amazon India Fashion head.

Fashion is among the top three stores on Amazon, and is one of the fastest growing stores on the platform.

“One in three customers who browse Amazon also check out our fashion offerings and Amazon is the top visited ecommerce site in India today,” he said.

Editorial suite

It also claims that customers have grown close to 2.5X in 2016. “We have registered a growth of over 2X in terms of new customers this year. Almost 30% of new customers for Amazon come from Amazon Fashion,” he said.

Besides photography, the Amazon Fashion photo studios have an editorial suite which will help in video editing and library. Amazon Fashion has overall doubled its selection this year and added a series of top fashion brands in the already wide bouquet of 15,000 brands and two million fashion products.

Largest selection

“We can easily say we have the largest selection across almost all categories under fashion. Since the beginning of 2016, Amazon Fashion has signed more than 150 top fashion brands including Aeropostale, Emporio Armani, Armani Exchange, Versus by Versace, and it is growing. We have also designers like Payal Pratap, Tarun Tahiliani and Monisha Jaysingh,” he said.

Besides the menswear brand Symbol, it also has private label Mynx as ethnic wear for women. It has over 70 exclusive brands in its kitty.
